You’ve ordered an AUVETO Smart Integration Kit for your Toyota or Lexus. Before it arrives, the most common question we get is simple: how long is this actually going to take? Whether you’re planning to install it yourself or book it in with a local installer, here’s a realistic breakdown.
The Short Answer
For most AUVETO integration kits, professional installation takes about one to two hours. If you’re doing it yourself, plan for one to three hours, depending on how comfortable you are working behind a dashboard and how familiar you are with your specific model.
Either way, this is meaningfully faster than a full aftermarket head unit swap, which often runs three to five hours or more once you factor in extra wiring, adapter harnesses, and configuration.
What Actually Happens During Installation
An AUVETO kit installs behind your factory head unit — nothing gets replaced or cut. Here’s the general sequence:
1. Removing the dash trim (15–30 minutes). The panels around your factory head unit need to come off to access the wiring behind it. Depending on your Crown, RAV4, Camry, Highlander, or Lexus model, this could be a single bezel or a few layered panels. Everything is held on with clips and screws — no cutting, no permanent changes to your dash.
2. Connecting the module (10–20 minutes). This is the core of the install: the AUVETO module plugs directly into your factory wiring harness between your head unit and the vehicle’s existing connectors. It’s a genuine plug-and-play connection — no wire splicing, no soldering.
3. Mounting the module (5–10 minutes). The module gets secured behind the dash using the included mounting hardware, positioned away from HVAC ducting and other components, with enough clearance for airflow.
4. Testing everything (10–15 minutes). Before the trim goes back on, you’ll pair a phone, confirm CarPlay or Android Auto appears correctly on your factory screen, test the touchscreen and steering wheel controls, check audio through your original speakers, and confirm your reverse camera and climate display still work exactly as before.
5. Reassembling the trim (10–20 minutes). Panels go back on, clips click into place, screws go back in — no gaps, no rattles.
What Speeds It Up or Slows It Down
Faster installs tend to involve a factory bezel that pops off easily with minimal screws, and an installer (or DIYer) who’s already familiar with that specific model’s dash layout.
Slower installs usually involve multiple layers of trim, hidden fasteners, or a first-time DIY attempt where figuring out the trim removal itself takes longer than the actual wiring.
Upgrading from Entune 2.0 to Entune 3.0? Expect a Bit Longer
If your goal is a full Entune 2.0 to 3.0 head unit upgrade rather than adding an integration module behind your existing screen, plan for closer to two to four hours. This is a physical head unit swap rather than a behind-the-dash add-on: the old unit comes out, the new one goes in, and an adapter harness bridges the two systems. Testing takes a bit longer too, since you’re verifying an entire head unit replacement rather than a single module.
Can I Drive My Car the Same Day?
Yes. The installation happens entirely with the car parked, and there’s nothing to “break in” or calibrate afterward — unlike features such as radar-based blind spot monitoring, which sometimes need a calibration drive. Once the trim panels are back on, you can start the car and use CarPlay or Android Auto immediately.
